Field Trip Registration

A field trip to The Children’s Museum includes a choice of classroom workshops and/or Science Dome presentations, as well as the opportunity to explore our many exhibit areas.

  • Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance.
  • Please be advised that field trip days in the spring are especially crowded.
  • Field trips are scheduled Tuesday through Friday (September through March); Monday through Friday (April through June).
  • Please provide alternate dates, programs, and times when booking.
  • Avoid disappointment.  Make your transportation arrangements early.

Program Scheduling
Classroom and Science Dome programs begin promptly at

  •   9:45 a.m.
  • 10:45 a.m.
  • 12:00 p.m.
  •   1:00 p.m.
  • Programs are approximately 45 minutes.
  • Classrooms accommodate up to 30 students.
  • Science Dome seats up to 145.
  • Seating is limited for chaperones in classrooms and the Science Dome.

Chaperone Policy

  • One chaperone is required for every ten students.
  • If you want to bring more chaperones than originally planned, additions will be accommodated subject to availability.
  • Please do not bring siblings or additional young children.
  • To adhere to fire regulations, a limited number of chaperones are allowed in classrooms and the Science Dome.

Arrival/Teacher Check-In

  • You must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of your first program, allowing time for group check-in.
  • Late arrivals result in shortened programs or cancellation of your programs.
  • Refunds are not issued for shortened or cancelled programs due to late arrivals.

Lunch Arrangements

  • Outdoor picnic areas are available but may not be reserved. Space is limited.
  • Eating on your bus is necessary during inclement weather.
  • Snack and drink vending machines are available.

Special Needs

  • Please notify the Registration Department of any special group needs including learning or physical disabilities, behavioral issues, or language barriers.

Wheelchair accessibility is limited to outside entrances. There are no elevators or ramps within The Children’s Museum.

Rates are per student and include a self-guided tour:

Payment

One full payment is required upon arrival.

The Children’s Museum does not accept the following forms of payment for students or chaperones:

  • Discount Coupons or Library Passes
  • Purchase Orders (unless prior arrangements have been made)
  • The Children’s Museum or reciprocal museum memberships (Memberships are valid for family visits only.)

Refund Policy
The Children’s Museum does not issue refunds or credits for absentees.  Teachers are responsible for full payment of student and chaperone numbers booked.  However, teachers are allowed to make final attendance adjustments up to 24 hours prior to their visit and overpayments of $20 or more will be refunded.

Cancellations
Groups failing to provide adequate notice are charged a late cancellation fee of $80 or 25% of the total reservation – whichever is higher.

  • Two weeks notice is required September through March.
  • One month notice is required for April, May, and June visits.
  • There is no charge for groups canceling due to inclement weather. Every effort is made to reschedule.
