GalaSaurus is this Saturday!

GalaSaurus, our 12th Annual Gala
and Fundraiser.

 
Saturday Evening, May 10, 2008

Tickets are still available, but only a few!

Highlights of the gala include specialty martinis, sumptuous food and entertainment as well as silent and live auctions where guests bid on a wide range of exciting offerings, including our unique Animal Sponsorships.  Local radio personality Brad Davis will serve as emcee and co-auctioneer.

Astronomy Day 2008 –
“Bringing Astronomy to the People”
May 10, 2008


Join us for the year’s biggest star party for a day filled with solar observing, telescope workshops, StarGazing 101 classes, hands-on activities and planetarium shows!  We will also be raffling off a Meade ETX-80 telescope made possible by Meade Instruments and Astronomy Magazine.

Mars, The Red Planet

Children aged 5 to 10 with a grown-up can learn all about Mars as the Phoenix Spacecraft is about to arrive.  Make a Mars craft project and hear a story about accidentally visiting there.  Sponsored by Travelers.  $5.00/member child, FREE/member adult; $12.00/nonmember child, $8.00/nonmember adult. Phoenix Mars Landing Party
May 25, 2008

Come celebrate the landing of the Phoenix Mars Lander at the new Travelers Science Dome. The Children’s Museum Preschool Summer Exploration
Play-ce  2008

Exploration Play-ce is a half-day summer program for children ages 4, 5, and 6.

Spring Wildflowers Walk

On Sunday, May 11th 2-3 PM, Roaring Brook Nature Center will offer a one hour Mother’s Day Walk on spring wildflowers. Cost is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children.  Mothers free!

Nature Center Sponsors Saturday Bird Walks

Roaring Brook Nature Center offers early morning May bird walks on Saturdays, May 10th and May 24th  from 7-9 AM. Binoculars and footwear suitable for wet ground conditions of early morning are recommended.    Cost is $2.00 for members, $3.00 for nonmembers per walk.  Bird walks are not geared for very young children.

Nature Offers Final Discovery Day Programs

Discovery Days is the Nature Center’s enrichment series for children in pre-school and in grades K-3.  Registration is now open for programs beginning in mid-May, see web site for details.

Nature Center Announces May Story Hour
Story hour continues with a one hour program on Monday, May 12th from 1:00-2:00 PM.  Geared for children ages 2-5.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Pre-registration requested. 

Nature Center Hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm;
Sundays from 1 - 5 pm. Trails through Werner’s Woods open daily dawn until dusk.
