November 4, 2008, Election Day, means the day off for many school children.  The Children’s Museum will be open 10am through 5pm to offer your family an exciting and educational experience.  Play on our hands on exhibits, get up close to an animal from the UTC Wildlife Sanctuary, and take in a digital planetarium show.  It’s a full day of fun for your family!

Little Eyes on the Skies


Thursday, November 6

5:00 – 7:30 PM

The planetarium staff would like to invite our youngest guests to experience the night sky just as it is getting dark. We’ll have games, crafts, and telescope observing (weather permitting) for those who can’t usually stay up for our night events. We’re planning for three-years-old and older, but everyone’s welcome to participate.

The cost is $10.00 for Museum members (over 2); $12.00 for non-members. Call 860.231.2824 x44 or e-mail events@thechildrensmuseumct.org to register. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Preschool Registration September 2009


The Children’s Museum Preschool will be holding it’s ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE on Tuesday, November 18 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the preschool. Registration packets are available now by calling 860.523.7449. Registrations will be accepted at the Open House on a first come first served basis. Spaces fill quickly so don’t delay!

Crocodiles!

Friday December 5, 7:00 pm
Rainforest Reptile Shows will be visiting the museum again this winter. There will be an informative presentation about crocodilians in the Sci-dome including an up close look at many live crocodiles and alligators.

Preparing For Winter Topic Of Walk

On Sunday, November 2nd, Roaring Brook Nature Center will sponsor a walk focusing on how plants and animals prepare for winter.  The walk begins at 2 PM.  Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.  Check the web site for additional information.

Nature Center Presents Loop Year

John Sheirer of Enfield hiked the same trail every day for one full year.  On Sunday afternoon November 16th at 2 PM, Roaring Brook Nature Center will present “Loop Year, 365 Days on the Trail.”    Admission is $3.00 for members, $5.00 for nonmembers. Check the web site for additional information.

Fall Discovery Day Programs Continue

Discovery Days, the Nature Center’s enrichment series for children in pre-school and in grades K-3 continues in November.  Check the web site for additional information.

Nature Center Continues Fall Story Hours

November Story Hour will be held on Monday, November 17th from 1:00-2:00 PM.   Geared for children ages 2-5.  Check the web site for additional information.

Holiday Gift & Craft Fair November 23rd

Start your holiday shopping with the Nature Center's Holiday Gift & Craft Fair on Sunday, November 23 from Noon until 4 PM. Check the web site for additional information.

Steve Songs will appear at Roaring Brook Nature Center for two shows on Sunday December 7th.  Check the web site for details and ticket information.
